🤖 Meta Wants You Makin' Music
PLUS: Does AI = Passive Income?
What's up? You're reading Inclined AI. We’re like a fire-type starter in Pokèmon, reliable with a tinge of cool.
Here's the heat:
Meta is alive with the sound of music
We examine AI’s chances of passively making you money
Medical Information is destined for disruption thanks to AI
Google’s new Search Generative Experience deals with the good and bad of being new
META GOES OPEN-SOURCE AGAIN FOR GENERATIVE MUSIC
Play that funky music, Zuckerberg! Meta unveiled a new generative AI for music in response to Google’s MusicLM tool.
They’re calling it MusicGen.
We present MusicGen: A simple and controllable music generation model. MusicGen can be prompted by both text and melody.
We release code (MIT) and models (CC-BY NC) for open research, reproducibility, and for the music community: github.com/facebookresear…— Felix Kreuk (@FelixKreuk)

There’s one key difference. Meta made their music generator open-source, and you can try it now on Hugging Face. That’s their plan, and they’re sticking to it.
Yann LeCun refuses to be outdone by the competition.
Since the French Computer Scientists started the AI lab at Meta, he’s preached the need to stay true to the open-source movement. That gamble is paying off today.
Thanks to their openness, their lab gets more data from developers, and higher-ups' support is putting more wind in their sails. Keep in mind that LeCun is the OG champion of Neural Networks. He’s not a scrub riding on the coattails of other researchers.
The new generative AI music platform they released even matches Google’s results.
Consider that factoid for a moment. Alphabet poured a lot of cash into their AI labs and got a head start, but other players in this space can bring down the hammer.
They trained their model on 20,000 hours of music, all licensed material.
You can craft a pop song from a small sample of Beethoven’s “Symphony No. 9” if you want. That’s the power of open source. With Google, you’d need to cross through some red tape before accessing their tool.
So don’t sleep on Meta’s team.
LLaMA was an attempt at catching up, but all they’ve done since then is innovate and ship open-source research. They’re staying true to the mission.
It’s weird rooting for the company behind FaceBook, but something about their knack for serving the entire community is commendable.
Hippo AI might be my new favorite way to design in Figma. Check it out:
Stop me if this sounds familiar; you’re hammering out some mocks on Figma when suddenly you hit the dreaded brick wall. It’s time to replace your placeholders with real web assets.
You turn to generative AI, but after prompt engineering for what feels like hours, you can’t generate the right images for what you’re making.
We can do better.
Which is why when I saw Hippo AI on Product Hunt, I couldn’t help but get a bit giddy.
It’s a Figma plugin built by product developers for product developers. All you do is describe the design you want and then select the style.
The variants show right up in your Figma design. It’s really that easy.
You can find out more by visiting their Product Hunt—just don’t forget to show them some love if you do.

CAN YOU SIT BACK & WATCH AI MAKE YOU MONEY?
Matt Higgins believes you can. He wrote a contributing piece for CNBC that outlines how he’d use AI to make a side hustle.
It’s worth a read to see how a self-made millionaire would use AI, but don’t get your hopes up. Higgins doesn’t give you any secret sauce. The whole write-up feels elusive and half-baked, but we can work with that.
The truth is AI will not make you rich.
Not on its own. You need to harness the power of ChatGPT and other tools to accelerate your efforts.
It takes human capital to turn time into money. Nothing about AI development changes that fact.
Higgins's four-step plan includes sweat equity. You need to do the research. You need to set the AI up to market and sell. You need to create the website and close the deals.
AI plays the role of a do-it-all intern in his strategy.
Don’t get me wrong; you should consider selling an online lesson the way he lays it out, but don’t go into this approach expecting a walk in the park. It takes time and effort to maximize the return on investment.
Also, it’s not passive because you need to constantly nurture the AI along and ensure the content it makes goes out. But I digress.
Higgin’s point still stands: it beats selling flowers on the corner.
The internet created new ways to make money, and the most agile and motivated individuals capitalized on that rush. AI is causing a new wave of chances to upskill and make a side hustle.
Just don’t trust the first piece of advice you hear on CNBC. Find what works for you.
AI is the Swiss Army Knife of automated tasks. You can make it your salesperson or marketer, but that’s one solution in infinite possibilities.
Find your hustle; just don’t expect it to be passive and turn you into a millionaire overnight, okay?
