MusicLM: Google's Latest AI Drop
PLUS: AI is going to the moon and Zoom
What’s up? You’re reading Inclined.ai. Grab your toast and coffee so we can get to it.
Here’s what you’ll see today:
Google drops some sick beats through MusicLM
AI is headed to the moon and I don’t mean that in an r/wsb way
Sam Altman was in Washington, D.C. last week to talk business
If your kids are in school, odds are they’re using ChatGPT for essays (duh)
Google Drops MusicLM, but You Can’t Use It
In October of 2022, Google announced AudioLM, a way for you to drop a snippet of music into its AI and then listen to it keep the song going from there. Now, the Notorious A.I. from Alphabet is back with MusicLM.
You don’t even need a sample beat for this model. Instead, MusicLM boasts an impressive text-to-audio generative AI so you can unleash your inner Rick Rubin.
Oh wait, they didn’t release it to the public.
Seriously?! If Google intended for this to become a thunderous clap back to OpenAI’s ChatGPT they missed the mark. Instead of a foundation-shaking roar, we got a passive grumble from a cool tool no one can use.
Google’s reasoning stems from a concern about how MusicLM is represented to the general public. In other words, music is a fickle industry with complicated copyright laws and cultural dynamics.
Did you think that sounds like Google’s version of lawyer speak?
That’s because it is. Let’s move on before the suits shut this down. Psst, check out Mubert if you have the time.
Sam Altman Heads to the Hill
The OpenAI CEO and former President of Y Combinator shook hands, kissed babies, and explained the technical misconceptions around ChatGPT & AGI to a bunch of boomers. It almost sounds like Thanksgiving at my place; minus the shaking hands part.
The move by Altman is an attempt to get ahead on regulatory conversations.
Yet, Altman is not short on critics
A few editorials and opinion columns have popped up in recent weeks that imply oversight is on the way. It feels like any moment now, Altman could wake up with a horse head in his bed and an offer he can't refuse.
That's taking things to the extreme, but the point remains: regulation and government action are inevitable. Taking steps to advocate and educate now before the bills start passing is a smart move.
Funny, this is also MFW I've been scrolling the AI subreddits for 4 hours with no break
One thing's for sure; I guarantee Altman had to explain that ChatGPT is not connected to the internet like a search engine at least a dozen times. The one congressman who forgot his hearing aid took up six of those tries.

Good Content, Bad Mods
A redditor used Midjourney to reimagine F1 drivers as Tim Burton characters. It was later removed for "low effort" by the mods.
Still, it is perfect timing with all the liveries coming out this week. I wonder if any of them used AGI to help design them 🤔
