🤖 ChatGPT Updates Galore
PLUS: Google Aims to Keep Up

Google is trying to catch up with “Apprentice Bard”

ChatGPT Plus Opens Its Waitlist
For $20, you can access all the new subscription benefits offered by OpenAI. That’s lower than the $42 price tag many expected.
Here’s what you get in the deal:
You can ask ChatGPT questions even during peak times
Questions are answered faster
Paying users have priority access to new features and improvements
That’s all they mention, which feels a bit anti-climactic, given how long we’ve waited like cats at a food dish for this announcement.
So, Is the Price Worth It?
It depends on who you ask. None of us will know what it’s like to be the bourgeoise of ChatGPT until they start granting access off the waitlist they made.
One thing is for sure; there’s wayyyyy more they need to deliver for this asking price.
They want to sell you on ChatGPT being fast and getting priority access when everyone is trying to get on the product. It's a worrisome proposition and a slippery slope.
You know why first-class works for airplanes, right? Because they make economy seats unbearable.
Give me Talladega-like speed, a special chance to test new features, and the ability to access this tool whenever I want. It all sounds great. Please, whatever you do, don't throttle the free users to make the $20 price necessary.
OpenAI, keep creating amazing products, and the revenue will follow, right guys? Everybody shake your head before they put the whole thing behind a paywall.
When push comes to shove, they've got 100 million users now, so even a small conversion rate is a big difference on their bottom-line. I trust that they've done the math and that everything will be alright in the end.

Is Google Still Feeling Lucky?
The classic option might be headed for the trash bin if reports are to be believed.
What’s taking its place? "Apprentice Bard," a LaMDA tool from Google AI, with randomized prompts to help create a new look for the search engine.
Google Wants the Cake…
…or at least a slice of the hype ChatGPT is getting. While OpenAI is looking to monetize ChatGPT (member from above? Oh, I member), Google is just now making moves that will affect the general public.
Even then, consider this:
We’re only in the testing phase
That same design is already in ChatGPT
Apprentice Bard will be competing with the search bar above it
When was the last time you clicked “I’m Feeling Lucky.” I had to go back and check to see if it was still there.
That being said, I’m glad they’re doing something, anything. Competition in this open environment helps everyone, so bring on the bard.

This animation team experimented with AI generating the backgrounds for all their scenes. It’s now streaming on Netflix…in Japan. Might as well get the VPN now given their other updates.
