🤖 ChatGPT, Destroyer of Worlds?
PLUS: An AI Copilot in the Real World
What's up? You're reading Inclined AI. Today’s newsletter is our Valentine’s Day gift to you.
Here's what to talk about on your date tonight:
ChatGPT & other LLMs place SEO blogs in a catch-22

Content Providers Will Struggle in This New Era
Large Language Models (LLMs) are a massive success, and their integration with search is starting to gain popularity. We’re all beyond pumped for New Bing and Bard to become daily fixtures, but the consequences might be life-altering.
We’re looking at a huge paradigm shift here because:
These Transformer models need to crawl different sites to summarize the information for you
We get this new information packaged in a neat bow with sources cited below the response
But all those sourced websites want eyeballs, and without them, they will stop playing along
LLM Search Can Destroy Its Own Knowledge Base
Think about it. Many blogs and publishers rely on ad revenue to support their business. Search engines are huge distributors for them, and that pipeline will shrink as more people rely on chat AI.
For example, you look up recipes online (if you suck at cooking like me). The biggest annoyance is scrolling through all the SEO crap to get to the actual directions.
With today’s AI-powered search engines, they collect that same data, source it, then give you the actual recipe you need without the fluff. Why would you ever click on the cited source?
Every click they lose matters in the content business. If these models threaten their distribution too much, they’ll take measures against AI crawling.
We end up with an endless stream of fair use legal cases, and before you know it, this newsletter helps you become an amateur copyright lawyer instead of an AI expert.
That’s why Microsoft’s CEO is putting traffic to sourced sites at the top of his priorities. Without it, the whole system falls in on itself, like a Jenga tower made by a five-year-old.

Play Us a Song You’re the Piano Bot
Did that demo blow your mind? What if I told you the Google Magneta team made Piano Genie in 2018?!
Thanks to Jim Fan and his awesome Twitter breakdown, I was recently reminded of Piano Genies’ existence. In his thread, he explains that this AI-assisted Piano playing is made possible thanks to Long Short-Term Memory (LSTM).
LSTM helps neural networks recall information and make predictions based on that data. Piano Genie recalls what you’ve played and your preferences so its AI can better replicate your style in the future.
In other words, the more you use the tool, the more suited to you it becomes.
Does LSTM Matter Today?
Yes, and the fact we’re reminded of tools from five years ago today gives me hope for the future of AI.
What is possible tomorrow if they could create that physical copilot five years ago?
We’re marching towards more physical versions of generative AI, and while Transformer architecture is growing in popularity, going back to other successful tooling is key to compounding development.
We tend to get caught up in ChatGPT and how it’s shaken up our understanding of AI’s utility, but there are so many other cool concepts out there to test.
LSTMs are incredibly useful for predicting outcomes and monitoring important data. They help diagnose patients, examine city engineering, and predict energy use patterns.
If we’re going to reach the singularity, we’re going to need more than just ChatGPT.
While you wait to use the power of LSTM in your personal day-to-day, try out Piano Genie’s demo and dream of AI’s future.
