🤖 Biden Makes A Decision On AI
AND Nothing,Forever Is Officially Broken
What's up? You're reading Inclined AI. Happy Halloween, ya filthy animals. Wait, crap, that’s the wrong holiday reference.

President Biden's recent Executive Order (EO) on AI regulations is like your mom telling you to clean your room…
…it's a well-intentioned start but lacks the bite of actual enforcement.
President Biden shakes hands with a robot --ar 2:1
With AI getting woven into the fabric of our daily lives, Biden's move is timely. After all, unregulated AI is akin to giving teenagers the keys to the car without any driving lessons.
The EO tells developers of high-impact AI systems, "Hey, share your safety tests with Uncle Sam before unleashing your code on the public."
Sure, this is a positive step—akin to putting up guardrails on a winding mountain road.
But let's face it: guardrails are not much use without speed limits, traffic lights, or actual laws. And that's where the EO is a bit shaky.
It makes plenty of recommendations—like the need for fairness in the criminal justice system and the call for 'voluntary' commitments from industry giants.
But 'voluntary' is the keyword here; it's more of a handshake than a contractual obligation.
It's not enough for Biden to lean on Congress to craft "bipartisan data privacy legislation.”
We need a comprehensive AI safety net that the government can enforce.
So, while the EO is a welcome mat at the doorstep of AI regulation, we need to unlock the door, walk in, and start laying down the law.
Or else, the risks are that the fast-paced AI train could derail, causing more than just a few algorithmic bumps and bruises.
