What's up? You're reading Inclined AI. We’ve got a double feature today about creativity in AI.

Here's what is on tap today:

  • Drake and The Weeknd’s voices were used in an AI song

  • Casey Neistat gives GPT-4 a try

  • New calls for AI regulation are growing in Europe

  • Developers are struggling to find new AI chatbots to build

A DRAKE SONG GOES VIRAL WITHOUT HIM SINGING A SINGLE VERSE

TikTok user @ghostwriter977 created a catchy song with AI-generated vocals from Drake and The Weeknd. The song is bouncing around social media and rising to viral fame.

Our only context is a mysterious person dressed as the ghost of a deceased Blues Brother.

@ghostwriter977

hi im ghostwriter. #drake #aivoice #theweeknd #ai #aidrake #theweekndai

If you send them your phone number, they will send you the song—wait, that’s not right.

They call it a Drake song, as if he signed off on the song when we know he didn’t.

It’s creative but also dangerous.

Lawsuits might happen, but Ghostwrite is not profiting from his work. That’s key.

Also, the creator fails to mention what tools they used to launch the song, so your guess is as good as mine.

An avalanche of copycats is bound to find ways to replicate this, and we’ll see a “HustleGPT 2.0” moment before they release a sequel. I guarantee it.

Prompt: Drake (?) Style: Kehinde Wiley

Music has another Napster moment that’s been boiling under the surface since Jay-Z launched copyright strikes against YouTube for Deepfakes. But Drake and The Weeknd have not responded to the song yet.

On a brighter note: creators are finding clever ways to engage with AI tools and make art that people like.

The song is good. Drake wasn’t going to make it, so someone else did.

Could a new way for songwriters to break into the industry be materializing?

CASEY NEISTAT IS UNIMPRESSED BY GPT-4

The legendary creator made a comedic video lampooning ChatGPT’s ability.

In it, Neistat tours downtown Manhattan and half-heartedly delivers lines written by ChatGPT. His false smile and deadpan delivery will make you chuckle in a good way.

Like when a dog sits on the sidewalk, and the owner can’t get it to budge. You’re not laughing in a mean way. It’s all silly and wholesome.

Unfortunately, things fall apart in the last act.

He ends the video with a brief monologue on why he doesn’t buy into the AI hype right now. ChatGPT holds no creative expression in its model, and the artist's soul is absent.

I agree with him to a point. After all, I write this newsletter. AI does not help (outside Grammarly, not a sponsor, could be).

However, it’s a weak point and a strawman to force ChatGPT into the creative bubble. No one is arguing that generative AI is capable of Steven Spielberg scripts and Stephen King novels.

GPT-4 can mimic and replicate patterns, but that level of reasoning will take time.

ChatGPT is not a shortcut. It doesn’t make you any less lazy.

If you’re productive and creative, it’s an incredible tool that takes steps and refines them down.

I hope that AI makes YOU more creative, not vice versa. That’s the point of AGI.

More mainstream creators using AI are coming. So get ready for uninspired takes, and get excited for the jaw-dropping moments the best storytellers will uncover using these tools.

That’s all happening now and will continue to grow.
